Description : ------------- WakeUp is a free basic simple, yet powerful, utility that allow services monitoring on NT machines (3.51x and above). WakeUp is a simple executable that uses a wakeup.ini configuration file. No setup is required, just copy the two files anywhere you like, WakeUp expects to find wakeup.ini beside, not in any windows or system directory. Enter services to monitor in the [services] section. Any stopped service will be restarted. WakeUp can do more than just pinging a service, it can try to establish a winsock connection on a dedicated port to check that the running service is effectively answering. Just add the service in the [connection] section with the port number. Additional configuration : -------------------------- - WakeUp recognizes the -a (or /a) command line parameter which allow an automatic start. It is useful if you place wakeup.exe in your "start" group. - You can do some "remote like" action with wakeup by placing files in its same directory. Placing a file called "pause" makes wakeup pause and stop monitoring the services. No stopped service will be restarted while wakeup is in this state. Wakeup can be resumed by just deleting the pause file. - If you place a file called "quit" wakeup will stop and exit. The only way I know to start wakeup again is to go to the server and double-click on its icon ! - If wakeup detects a file called "minimize" it will obey and go minimized. --------------------------------------------- Suggestions are welcome at jcelle@edirom.fr --------------------------------------------- Last revised : may 1998, 14th
